Fleur de Wine

from $15.00

This work was inspired by my love of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana where the Fleur de lis reign supreme and wine flows endlessly day and night. The ambience of the city's street lights, the allure of its architecture, the incorporation of the symbolic Fleur de Lis and a passion for wine all combine to create a surreal compilation of the city I hold so dear. A city full of life and energy ever flowing. Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler, French for, "Let the Good Times Roll".

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
