Fiddle Me This

from $125.00

How do you make a violin laugh? It’s simple, you tell the fiddle a riddle!

Fiddle Me This or Riddle Me That…Do you see a Fiddle or Violin?

You see, it’s all in how you play it! A violin was just a violin until it met its true roots in Acadiana becoming forever entwined with our culture and is now known to Louisianan’s as a fiddle. The fiddle is the core sound of our Cajun music and in turn synonyms with the Acadiana heritage.

Just as the fiddle is forever rooted in our Cajun community the Louisiana Iris emerges from the waters of the marsh, rising above it all to put on a show of decadent blooms that entertain and delight us as our official Louisiana State Wildflower. These wildflowers grant refuge to some of our tiniest wildlife, like dragonflies, which represent the process of becoming our true self through transformation, just as the violin came to be known as fiddle. While Ladybugs represent healing they are said to bring good luck and prosperity which our disappearing wetlands dearly need as they continue to be pounded every hurricane season. You see here in Louisiana we wear our battle scars proudly as they are the story of what shaped us. We continue to stand as beacon of hope, rooted in generational bonds and born of a community that taps the depths of culture that run deep in our Louisiana’s roots.

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
